Scotland has never had a professional cricket derby, because Scotland has never had two professional cricket teams. That changes in the ETPL's inaugural season, when Glasgow Cosmic meets Edinburgh Castle Rockers in the league's only all-Scottish fixture.

Glasgow and Edinburgh have contested everything from football to festival audiences for a century, and now that rivalry gets a cricket expression for the first time at professional level. The venue twist: Scotland's derby is played abroad
Neither club hosts it. The league's two confirmed 2026 venues are Voorburg Cricket Club in The Hague and Malahide in Dublin, so Scotland's first professional cricket derby gets played on neutral ground, twice: 27 August and 6 September, both at Voorburg. Edinburgh are the nominal home side in the first, Glasgow Cosmic in the second, and neither is within 400 miles of home. Two Scottish teams, one Scottish rivalry, nought Scottish home grounds. If you want a reason to travel or tune in, that's it.
Glasgow Cosmic's derby weapons
The Cosmic squad was built with Scottish credibility at its core. Richie Berrington, Scotland's captain, and George Munsey, the country's most dangerous opener, have spent 2026 trading the record for Scotland's all-time leading T20I run-scorer. Around them sit Liam Livingstone, Josh Philippe, Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi, power-hitting depth paired with front-line international bowling.
What we know about Edinburgh Castle Rockers
Mitchell Santner, New Zealand's frontline spinner, captains the Rockers, with Trent Boult alongside him and Pakistan's Shadab Khan and England's Tom Curran adding to the overseas group. Their drafted local core includes Gareth Delany, Ross Adair, Brandon McMullen, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Charlie Tear, Jack Jarvis and Finlay McCreath. The club is owned by a New Zealand-led consortium fronted by Kyle Mills and Nathan McCullum.
McMullen, Watt and Sharif were all in Scotland's 2026 T20 World Cup squad, so the derby splits Scotland's international dressing room down the middle.
Head-to-head, starting from zero
There is no history here, no head-to-head record, no previous meetings to weigh. The first ball of the first Glasgow Cosmic vs Edinburgh match is the start of the whole story.
